We have put together some information and tips for healthy living and weight management. Childhood obesity and weight related problems are rapidly increasing in the U.S. If you are concerned about your child's weight please schedule an appointment so we can discuss an individual plan that will fit you and your family's lifestyle.

Eat as a family at the kitchen or dining room table as much as possible -- you tend to eat more if you have your meal in front of the TV.

Watching TV, playing video games, and using computers for greater than 2 hours per day are linked to childhood obesity.

Did you know that 40% of children who are overweight at age 7 will continue to have problems as adults?

When you make physical activity part of your child's routine, you help him enjoy and learn through movement.

Get your child involved by allowing him to help in planning and cooking healthy meals.

Healthy, physically active kids are more likely to be academically motivated, alert, and successful.

Beware of the "clean plate policy" -- when your child is satisfied, don't force him to keep eating. This will help reinforce the idea to only eat when he is hungry.

Did you know that overweight kids and teens are at increased risk for diabetes, heart disease, asthma, depression, and sleep problems?

When parents take good care of themselves, they set an example for their children.

Take a hike!! Go for a walk with your child after dinner.

Did you know that 70% of obese 10-13 year olds grow up to be significantly overweight?

Listen to your body -- when you're eating notice how your body feels when you're comfortably full to avoid eating way too much.

Beware the Supersize! Give your child normal, healthy portions.

Stay Positive -- children that are overweight often have problems with self esteem, depression, and bullying at school.
